Rose also enjoyed visiting and playing cards with her friends and family and watching her favorite television shows, such as The Price is Right. Rose was an avid vegetable and flower gardener, an accomplished quilter and crocheter and an excellent baker and cook, preparing many German dishes for her family. This allowed Rose more time to pursue her many hobbies. Rose and Martin built a home in Strasburg in 1983 after their son, Dennis Wald, took over the farming operation.
